This felt like Takeshi at his most endearing, he wants the characters to care for each other as much as possible, and as soon as I saw the main character I already cared so much for him. Nothing is solved by waving a gun around but by scolding someone to do better. I also feel like Takeshi couldn’t help but make jokes. Right after making you cry in one of the most beautiful expressions of love, he makes someone’s head gets punted by a soccer ball. But it works because you know its being done with utmost sincerity. I feel like most movies would work without sound, but with this it feels deliberate, which is very fitting.
